In 2008
A date of Saturday 19th July has been set for the Bishop
Wilton Show & Craft Fair in 2008. Please reserve that day in your diary!
Bishop Wilton Show Committee is working very hard again to bring you a better Show than ever. We have already secured the marquees and the majority of the events so please keep the 3rd Saturday in July free.
Follow the links for Trade Stands, the Craft Tent and individual events for more detailed information as it becomes available.
We will keep you informed of events and attractions taking place on Show day and provide an up to date time table and layout of the Show field (see below).
Last year the Show had to be cancelled due to bad weather for the first time in its history so we really want to make amends this time around.
Information on this site about the timetable and attractions for 2008 is currently provisional as it is based on what was planned for 2007 (but didn't take place). Precise details will be displayed as they become available.

The Half Marathon
The Yorkshire Wolds Half Marathon & Two Mile Fun Run takes place on the same day as the Show, starting at 10.00 am, beginning and ending in the Show Field.

Show Programme
We are currently working on the programme for 2008 which should be available in printed form by late February 2008. Following that a downloadable version will appear here.

Historical Background
It all started in 1897 as the Bishop Wilton Flower Show in a tent erected in the school yard. In the early days it was accompanied by a cricket match, sports, a brass band and an evening dance. By 1907 a competition for mares, foals, cows and pigs had been added.
