Some of the material (the extracts from the Howdenshire Chronicle & Pocklington Weekly News of 1897) has already appeared on this website. What is new is the explanation of why there was a South African connection to the first Show. It has taken a number of years to piece together a story which has historical significance for the Show, the village and also for the Sabie area of South Africa.
